This is a week for reflection.  From 21/5 – 25/5, 45 of us were in the Education Success Coach class.   During these 5 days, we went through:

    • The 5 core values of a Education Coach
    • Why Education Success Coaching?
    • Letting go of your tolerations
    • Self concept and values
    • Radiating the conficent mindset
    • Developing the qualities you value
    • Appreciate and being positive about children
    • Tuning in, reflecting and acknowledging
    • Discovery questions and laser reflecting
    • Permission and anchoring
    • Coaching questions
    • Anatomy of mindset
    • Education success coach strategies
    • The power to change mindsets
    • Moving from negative to positve; from darkness to light

More importantly, at the end of the whole session, we have to BECOME.  On the final day was the practical exam.  Was rather rushing but we all did our best.  So, now is waiting for the result . . .

Delights and Woes of the Week 0720

There is more happening this week.  First, the delights:

    • Was at Temasek JC to give talks to Sec 3 and Sec 4 students on 14/5 and 15/5 on Family Bonding.  These pupils were recruited under the Integrated Programme where they need not go through the ‘O’ level exams.  In the Sec 4 class, a few of them came from Cedar Girls and there actually know my youngest girl. Yu Sin.
    • 15/5 was also my husband’s birthday.  This is one celebration that my eldest girl was not with us, still enjoying her back-packing in Europe.  Nonetheless, we took him out for dinner at Rendezvous Hotel.
    • Had my monthly massage done on 14/5 and facial on 16/5.  As always, I feel good after that.
    • On 17/5, it was my first session of Guided Autobiography writing with WINGS (Women’s Initiative of Aging Successfully).  I sure had fun sharing with those present.
    • On 18/5, had dinner with my ex-colleague.  We had vegetarian food at Beach Road.  Thereafter, coffee at Starbucks.  We had a wonderful time eating and chatting.
    • 19/5 was my youngest sister’s birthday who lamently joined the 40 age group.  Still happy-go-lucky and enjoying her spinstership.

As for the woe,  I have yet gotten any enrolment for this month thus far.  Will have to try harder next week.

Delights and Woes of the Week 0719

Another quiet week.  So got more time to relax and call up friends for chit chat.

    For the delights:

    • This week, Yulin covered Austria, after Italy.  From the emails and sms received, can see that she is really enjoying herself.
    • Met up with a friend for dinner at Dhoby Ghaut.  Had a good update on each other’s well being.  Thereafter, walked around the shops.  Bought some cookies and tea leaves for mum – Mother’s Day gift.
    • Celebrated Mother’s Day with all my siblings on 12/6, Saturday.  Had lunch at the restaurant outlet at Blk 555 Ang Mo Kio.  The tenant had rented the premises from my brother.  Glad to see that mum was in good spirit.
    • On 13/5, it was another round of pot luck makan at my mother-in-law’s place.  Though she had to visit the toilet more frequently, can see that she was pleased that all of us got together.

Now for the woe.  The maid who was supposed to keep my mum company ran away on Saturday afternoon.  On Sunday morning, when they was still no news of her whereabouts, my sister reported police.  Finally, learnt from the agent that she was at the house of the one who brought her to Singapore.

The reason she gave was she sensed that my mum did not like here.  Still, we felt that she should have talked to us first.  Well, no way we would take her back.  It’s going to be maid hunting again.  Sigh . . .

Delights and Woes of the Week 0718

This week, things tend to slow down a bit, with exams going on.

    Well, the delights are:

    • My eldest girl, Yulin, set forth her back-pack trip to Europe on 01 May with 2 other friends. First destination is to Athens, Greece. At last update, she is in Italy today. Lots of fun, she said, and getting tanner by the day.
    • Did the written exam of Education Success Coach the second time and passed. The score for the first round was 75 and 90 for the second attempt. The passing mark is 80. Looking forward to the practical course and exam at the end of this month.
    • Attended refresher course on SEO Web Design. Glad to make new friends and learn some more tips.
For woes, there are a couple this week. First, 4 families cancelled their appointments for the complimentary workshop due to school exams. Happy to take a break and rest at home.

Yesterday, the computer broke down. Apparently, the hard disk crashed. Have gotten someone to fix it. The damage is going to cost more that $200 for hard disk replacement, recovery and workman costs. Sigh . . . one of those days.
